Ibanez SR5BBLTD

Basses.... If I have only one vice it would be bass guitars. Have played for over 30 years and still love the feel of the instrument in my hands. Gonna renew this blog by posting my beauties past and present. First up is my latest acquisition; and Ibanez SR5BBLTD..

Reviewers have been singing the praises of the SR Premium basses since their introduction in 2011. These instruments incorporate many high-end features and components. As for the later, the SR5BBLTD takes the SR Premium Series to whole new level of unique beauty.

With it's Buckeye Burl top and Ash body, the SR5BBLTD is a stunning eye catcher. The cream colored wood, with its naturally occurring blur/gray markings, makes for an exquisite display of Mother Nature's incomparable artistry. So inspired were the Ibanez designers that they had the pickup covers manufactured from Buckeye Burl as well, making for one of the most original looking basses the Premium Series has ever produced.

The 5-piece Wenge/Bubinga neck features a Rosewood fretboard with Abalone oval inlays. The Medium frets are hand finished with the Premium Fret Edge Treatment for a super-smooth, comfortable feel. Sustain and string vibration are optimized by the ingenious Mono-rail IV bridge.

For electronics, the SR5BBLTD comes loaded with two Nordstrand "Big Single" passive pickups. Designed to create a full, aggressive sound, Big Singles produce a powerful low-end without sacrificing the articulation associated with single coil pickups. Additional sound shaping is provided by an Ibanez EQB-IIISC 3-band EQ.
